Reflecting on This Week's Activity: Defining Terms and Concepts
After completing this week’s task, I really enjoyed reflecting on the true meaning of innovation, creativity, teaching and learning as well as how I am incorporating each of these aspects in my teaching pedagogy. As I was researching and writing on each definition, I kept reflecting back on how I am using my own definition of each word in my teaching practices and how I can incorporate decolonizing pedagogy methods which are creative and innovative in my teaching practices to help my students learn in the most effete way possible. As my goal at the end of this course is to educate myself in incorporating decolonizing pedagogy into my teaching as well as effectively do it in a manner which aligns with the FSL elementary curriculum, I decided to create a list if decolonizing pedagogy methods and ideas which I have come across that I would like to research and learn more about. As I continue writing blog posts over the next few weeks, I will dedicate my blog posts to my findings on each of the following methods and then will choose one or two to elaborate on specifically:
- land-based pedagogy
- story telling
- medicine wheel
- listening to Indigenous youth
